🌴 A Note From The Jungle
The kids are heading back to school and summer is almost over. Now is the time start getting ready for 2026 planning. Yikes, I said it! This week we look at changes to moving a SAB profile, LSA updates, and a few interesting links we found across the landscape.
🦍 Ask GMB Gorilla
Hey GMB Gorilla…I’m moving my service area business (SAB) to a new state, can I just update the address?
Howdy human! Congrats on making the move. Good thing you asked me first, because moving a GBP across state lines can feel like working with a 1-star moving company. Let’s avoid the good falling out the bottom of the box with the quick tut on how to move your SAB across state lines.
Previously, if you were moving an SAB profile to new location across state lines you could simply update the address, your website, and proof of existence documents, then file for reinstatement. The process would take anywhere from 3-5 business days and barring issues with documentation, your new profile would go live.
Today, things have changed. No longer does Google want you to change the address on the profile if you’re moving a massive distance as an SAB. They’re advising SABs to create a new GBP at their new location, mark the old location permanently closed, then contact support to transfer any reviews.
This is a big change, that is not uniformly enforced (like most Google guidelines), but we are seeing this being the case with more and more SABs that are moving large distances.
So, if you’re trying to move your SAB and or your customers, make sure you’re aware of these new steps and proceed accordingly to avoid delays (and frustration).

AI Overviews Spotted in the Local Pack 👀

AI continues to creep into local search results
Google is still testing
We saw this first on LinkedIN and have been able to recreate it only a few times. Google usually tests changes such as these to get user feedback and see if they should be permanent.
Initial thoughts on the AIO Pack
The AI Overviews continue to cite different businesses than those appearing in the local pack or organic SERPs more often than not. This is creating a new opportunity for those who do not already rank in the top 3, but threatening to dilute clicks and calls for those already highly visible.
Future considerations
AIOs have already had an impact on traffic and their introduction into the local pack will likely reinforce this trend. This is something to keep an eye on over the next few months.
