🌴 A Note From The Jungle
Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you and yours had a great one if you celebrated the holiday. This week we look at using Google posts to promote your offers and new functionality that allows you to schedule and publish posts to multiple profiles. Let’s get cracking 💥
🦍 Ask GMB Gorilla
Hey GMB Gorilla…I keep reading that Posts don’t influence my profile’s ranking, so why exactly should I be using them?
Howdy human! Its true that Google Posts don’t help you rank higher in the local pack, but that doesn’t mean they’re completely useless. Google Posts can be an effective way to increase actions taken on your profile and leads in general. You simply need to know how to use them properly to get the most benefit from them. Let me explain.
Google Posts are designed to help you put a spotlight on things that are happening at your business. Posts feature an image, text, and call to action. Google allows for three different types of Posts: Updates, Offers, and Events. Yet more often than not, most businesses are only using one Post type (Updates).
Offers and Events Posts are underutilized by businesses, but they are the missed opportunity. Customers interacting with your profile may click on a Post promoting a piece of content, highlighting a review, or new employee. It’s more likely though, that a timely Offer or relevant Event, will hook them and earn you a click or call.
Unfortunately, most business have poor or no offers. This results in their posting efforts becoming more like adding content to a website blog, not one that drives more actions from the profile. Which in time leads them to questioning why they’re not getting more from their efforts.
If you’re looking to get more out of Posts or your advertising in general, take a look at your offers or consider creating an event that you can promote. I bet the businesses who have them up today, are doing pretty well 🙂

Google Releases Native Post Scheduling and Multi-location Publishing

Just in time for the holidays Google has released a feature that’s been missing for a decade: the ability schedule Posts and publish them across multiple profiles.
You’ve needed third party software to do this for years: Prior to the release of this feature, if you wanted to schedule or publish a single post across multiple locations you’d need to use a third party software or implement Google’s API. Now you can schedule Posts to go live on particular days and times, while also being able to select multiple location profiles for the post to appear on.
It’s not a replacement for existing software tools: The addition of this feature does not spell doom and gloom for third party softwares offering these functions to their users. Most of them offer greater functionality than what Google is offering, meaning this feature is probably a good on ramp for third party software providers since anyone who becomes a power user of the native function will likely move to enhanced tooling more easily.
Google continues to change and enhance profile functionality: This is great to see as GBPs continue to grow in visibility in search and therefore importance to businesses. Offering better functionality for managing multiple profiles successfully will improve the user experience and hopefully results users see from their efforts.
